Ergin NomerProf. Dr Ergin Nomer, born 7 January 1935, graduated as a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Istanbul in 1957 and became a research assistant and lecturer at the same university in 1958. He obtained his doctorate in 1961 from the University of Istnbul and spent two years at the Ludwig-Maximilian- Universität as a visiting lecturer in the academic years of 1962-1964. Dr Nomer became an associate professor in 1966 and a professor in 1973 at the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Law. He served as the Vice-President to the Rector of Istanbul University between 1974-1980 and 1994-1998, as the Dean of Istanbul University, Faculty of Law between 1980-1982 and as the Director of the Centre for Research in International Law and International Relations at Istanbul University between 1985-1994. He was also an Associate Member of the Arbiration Panel of the Istanbul Bar Association between 2001-2004 and a Member of the Turkish Council of Higher Education between 2004-2008. He was heading the Private International Law Section of Kadir Has University, Faculty of Law between 2005-2010 and he still lectured on and conducted research in 'conflict of laws', 'international civil procedure', 'law on nationality' and 'law on foreigners'. Dr Nomer has published extensively on conflict of laws, international civil procedure, law on nationality and law on foreigners subjects, including books and over a hundred Articles.
