Erin L RichmanErin Richman was born in Tampa, FL to parents recently transplanted from Maryland, which makes her one of very few native Floridians. She won her first writing award when she was a senior in high school, and it dawned on her then that maybe she shoul write more. For nearly two decades, she has taught in university classrooms to captive, semester-long audiences whom she subjects to endless jokes and stories. As a developmental psychologist, she is obsessed with uncovering family histories, and exploring the contexts that shape our lives' paths. Her recent journey helped her discover lineage that cloaked a family in mystery, rejection, and shame, yet ended with tremendous healing. A graduate of the University of Georgia, she has a Masters and Ph.D. in Psychology with concentration in girls' self-concept development, and she still sometimes longs for the days of arguing with her professors and examining thousands of cells of psychosocial data. When not writing, she leads a great big team of great people at a state college, and still teaches psychology to students each semester just for fun. Her idea of absolute bliss is a day filled with nothing but water to stare at, a gentle breeze on her screened porch, her computer, and the sound of her kids laughing. Read More Read Less
