Essien is an Associate Professor and a researcher in the University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria where he currently teaches Social Ethics, Comparative Religious Ethics, Christian Ethics and Human Values in the Department of Religious and Cultural Sudies of the University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social and Religious Ethics from University of Ibadan, Masters of Arts Degree in Social Ethics from the University of Ibadan, PGD International Relations, University of Uyo, and a BA (Hons) in Religious and Cultural Studies from the University of Uyo. He writes and presents papers widely on issues of Governance and ethics, Ethics of political system, environmental ethics, Peace ethics, Social media and ethics, comparative religious ethics. Dr. Essien has authored three books, twenty-four book chapters, and many journal articles in peer-reviewed scholarly journals. He is editor of two books, Evaluator for many journals, and member of the Editorial Board of five International Journals.
