Estevan OriolEstevan Oriol is an internationally celebrated professional photographer, director and urban lifestyle entrepreneur. Beginning his career as a hip-hop club bouncer turned tour manager for popular Los Angeles-based rap groups Cypress Hill and House ofPain, Estevan's passion for photography developed while traveling the world. With an influential nudge and old camera from his father, renowned photographer Eriberto Oriol, Estevan began documenting life on the road and established a name for himself amid the emerging hip-hop scene. Nearly 20 years later, Oriol's extensive portfolio juxtaposes the glamorous and gritty planes of LA culture, featuring portraits of famous athletes, artists, celebrities and musicians as well as Latino, urban, gang, and tattoo counterculture lifestyles. "I've been taking fotos since the mid nineties, my dad and step mom gave me an extra camera that they had laying around. When they first gave me the camera I wasn't really into taking fotos. I was more into working for House of Pain and Lowriding. This collection of pictures were taken throughout the past 20 years. It started out with taking photos of my friends and people I was meeting in the lowriding scene. Once some magazines saw some of them, they would have me do special assignments on some of the gang culture here in Los Angeles. Some of the photos are documenting them hanging out in the hood and the rest are portraits. I have shot so much of this type of work that's why I chose to include all of the different ethnicities, as you can imagine some of these shots weren't always taken at the safe moments but if you don't take some risks, you don't get the photos. It was a big challenge choosing the photos for this book, there was so many. The good thing is I can always do another one. All of these photos were shot on film!!!
