Fi SutherlandFi Sutherland, BEd (hons.), BSc (psychology), is a teacher in the ISIS School of Holistic Health, a Scotland-based school of healing arts, spiritual development, and inner transformation. Born and raised in a small village outside Glasgow, Scotland, i immigrated to New Zealand, and worked in the graphic design field in Wellington. Returning to Glasgow in 2001, Fi completed university and a three-year, advanced therapeutic counselling diploma. Over the next decade, Fi built her career as a counsellor, energy healer, clinical supervisor, and personal development coach. In 2012 Fi stepped away from regular employment and focussed on her spiritual path. She has made numerous pilgrimages and taken part in trainings, retreats, ceremonies, and soul healings in Nepal and Tibet, Egypt, the United States, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Greece, Scotland, England, and Wales. Since 2015, Fi has worked alongside ISIS School founder Fotoula Adrimi and cofacilitates courses and retreats in meditation and spiritual and personal development. In her book Fi shares remarkable experiences of struggle and healing, and insights and wisdoms across several modalities. Some of Fi's areas of study are highlighted below. After an introductory course in spirituality in 1995, Fi's journey with Buddhism began with a meditation course facilitated by the late Buddhist teacher Navachitta. For five years, Fi attended the Buddhist meditation evenings, retreats, and puja ceremonies., and read widely in Buddhist literature. The writings of Joseph Goldstein, Jack Kornfield and Thich Nhat Hanh brought Buddhist psychology and meditation alive for Fi. Fi returned to Scotland in 2001 and in 2005, her late counselling college tutor, Jane Robertson-Reick, gave her a picture of the Native American Shaman Emaho. Over the next decade, Fi attended Emaho's Fire Dance ceremonies throughout Europe. Emaho taught Fi about the importance of the heart and the transformative power of ceremony. In 2009, in a trip to Peru, Fi had an adverse reaction to the high altitude and had a near-death experience. This incident and the subsequent healings that Fi received from Fotoula Adrimi changed the direction of her life. She knew she had to learn about the ancient Egyptian spirituality that Fotoula had channelled. In 2010, Fi took her first course in the Teachings of the Living Light / The Path of ISIS and she continues to work daily with these teachings and practices that help come home into the living light of her authentic Self.
