Fran McNabbFran McNabb grew up along the beaches and islands of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. On the Crest of a Wave takes place on Ship Island, a locale which became an important part of her life. The island fort, which housed Confederate POWs during the ivil War, once was her playground and even a place of refuge during a storm. Now tourists flock to Mississippi to visit this structure. Fran received both her B.S. and her M.E. in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught English and journalism and now enjoys presenting writing workshops.
