Gail L HinshawGail Hinshaw was born in south-central Kansas. As a son of sharecropping parents, he was fortunate to live in a community that had a Boy Scout Troop. He became a "triple crown scout," earning the God and Country Award, the rank of Eagle Scout, and wa honored with Vigil Membership in the Boy Scout Honor Fraternity, The Order of the Arrow. His youth scouting career also included being a Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. His professional career included being principal in his old high school at age 26, working for the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive, and serving as a startup and turnaround professional for numerous businesses and organizations. He started several businesses of his own and ended his career as a public speaker. During his professional career, he found the time to be an adjunct professor, teaching leadership and research at the graduate level for over 30 years. His education includes two degrees in Industrial Technology as well as holding a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification in quality and process improvement. Growing up on a farm, as well as his education and work experience, gave him the knowledge, skill, and problem-solving ability to earn the trail name, Dr. Fix-it. His hiking and backpacking experience includes hiking close to 3,000 miles with hikes in New Mexico (Philmont Scout Ranch), Colorado (various), Arizona (Grand Canyon), as well as close to 2,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
