George Berkeley
George Berkeley (1685-1753) was an Irish philosopher and Anglican bishop known for his influential works in the fields of metaphysics and philosophy of religion. Berkeley's philosophical contributions, including his theory of immaterialism and subective idealism, have had a lasting impact on Western philosophy. As a clergyman, he was deeply involved in theological debates and promoted missionary efforts, as reflected in his proposal for the establishment of a college in Bermuda.
