Giuseppe VallarGiuseppe Vallar, MD, is a neurologist, Professor of Psychobiology and Physiological Psychology in the Department of Psychology, and a member of the NeuroMi, Milan Center for Neuroscience, of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Milan, Italy; he is the had of the Neuropsychological Laboratory of the IRCCS Italian Auxological Institute. He has worked in the Universities of Milano, and Sapienza in Rome. His main interests concern human neuropsychology, particularly: spatial and bodily cognition, their disorders (unilateral spatial neglect, somatoparaphrenia), and their neural correlates; the modulation of higher cognitive functions by sensory and transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulation; short-term (immediate) verbal memory, its disorders after brain damage, and its neural correlates; the assessment and rehabilitation of neuropsychological deficits, particularly unilateral spatial neglect. G. Vallar is the author of over 200 scientific publications, the editor of the books The cognitive and neural bases of spatial neglect (2002, with Hans-Otto Karnath and A.
