Guy Du PlessisGuy du Plessis is a researcher and instructor at the I-System Institute for Transdisciplinary Studies, Utah State University, and adjunct professor at the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy, Loyola University Chicago. He studied psychology at the Uiversity of South Africa and philosophy at the University of Cape Town and certified in psychodynamic psychotherapy. He has worked for over 25 years as an addiction treatment provider and academic researcher. He is the author and co-author of 7 books, two of which are published by Cambridge University Press, also published in several journals and edited volumes, including 'International Journal of Applied Philosophy' and 'Addiction,' his research aims at applying various philosophical perspectives to addiction studies, with the aim of integrating life-affirming philosophical outlooks into existing recovery-oriented interventions, and highlighting life-negating views that are obstructions to recovery and the good life.
