H AshbrookHarriette Ashbrook (1898-1946) was an American writer of mystery and suspense novels. Born in Manhattan, Kansas, she got her first job on the Nebraska State Journal in Lincoln. She worked on a succession of newspapers from the Calgary Morning Albertanto the Brooklyn Eagle. Later on she did publicity for Harper's for several years and was publicity director for Coward-McCann till ill-health forced her to resign in 1938. Her first mystery, The Murder of Cecily Thane (1930), received considerable critical acclaim and was followed by The Murder of Sigurd Sharon (1933) and A Most Immoral Murder (1935).
