Andersen's fairy tales, consisting of 156 storiesacross nine volume, have been translated into more than 125 languages. His most famous fairy tales include "The Emperor's NewClothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Red Shoes", "ThePrincess and the Pea", "The Snow Queen", "The UglyDuckling", "The Little Match Girl", and "Thumbelina". During Andersen's lifetime he was feted by royalty and acclaimed for having brought joy to children across Europe. His fairy tales continue to be published in millions of copies all over the world.
