Harold Darling
Harold Ray Darling (1932-2016) was better known by his pen name Welleran Poltarnees. Author, founder of numerous bookstores and publishing companies, book collector, and image collector nonpareil, he spent 25 years compiling files and nots on dressed animals. This research now fills an entire four-drawer file cabinet in the Laughing Elephant studio. Darling made books for more than forty years. It was his life’s work to share his large library of vintage children’s books and paper ephemera with the world. Darling lived in both San Diego and Seattle.
