Herbert V. GuentherHerbert Vighnāntaka Guenther (1917–2006) was a German Buddhist philosopher, linguist, translator, and scholar of Tibetan Buddhist thought. He is best known for his pioneering work in translating and interpreting Vajrayana and Dzogchen texts into Englsh and for combining deep Buddhist insight with contemporary philosophical thought in his writings and teachings.He authored and translated numerous scholarly books and articles on Tibetan Buddhism, including influential translations such as The Life and Teaching of Naropa and studies on Tantra and Dzogchen, and his works have been translated into multiple languages.
