Indira ParthasarathyINDIRA PARTHASARATHY, pseudonym of (Dr) R. Parthasarathy (Padma Shri awardee) (b.1930), is a creative writer, literary and cultural critic and historian who started his career as an academic. Widely acknowledged as one of those who have revolutionize modern Tamil fiction and drama, he has authored sixteen novels, two volumes of short stories, four anthologies of short novels, nine full-length plays, seven one-act plays and one volume of critical essays.He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel Kuruthi-p-punal (The River of Blood) in 1977, which has been translated in many major Indian languages, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 2004 - the only Tamil writer so far to have been honoured with both the awards.He was given the Life-Time Achievement award in 2018 at The Hindu Literature for Life event.
