James Crumley
James Crumley was born in Three Rivers, Texas and spent most of his childhood in South Texas. He served three years in the US Army before teaching English as a visiting writer at the University of Texas at El Paso. His hardboiled crime novels set n America’s western badlands inspired writers from Dennis Lehane and George Pelecanos and were often described as a cross between HS Thompson and Raymond Chandler. He died in 2008.
