James Hutton
James Hutton (1726-1797) was a Scottish geologist, physician, chemical manufacturer, naturalist, and experimental agriculturalist. Known as the 'Father of Modern Geology,' Hutton proposed uniformitarianism, a fundamental principle in geology that xplains the Earth's features as the result of slow, continuous processes over vast periods of time. His work laid the foundation for modern geology and significantly influenced the understanding of Earth's geological history.
