James Hutton

James Hutton (1726-1797) was a Scottish geologist, physician, chemical manufacturer, naturalist, and experimental agriculturalist. Known as the 'Father of Modern Geology,' Hutton proposed uniformitarianism, a fundamental principle in geology that xplains the Earth's features as the result of slow, continuous processes over vast periods of time.
