James McVeyJames McVey was born in Ohio and grew up in northern Michigan. He earned a master's degree in environmental science and worked briefly as a wildlife biologist in the Adirondack Mountains. He earned a doctorate in English at the University of Colorado where he teaches creative writing and Americn literature. His short stories and outdoor essays have appeared in literary journals around the country. His first book, The Wild Upriver and Other Stories, was published in 2005 by Arbutus Press.
