Jaya TyagiJaya Tyagi has been teaching history in the University of Delhi for over three decades and is presently Professor in the Department of History. Her areas of interest include ancient Indian history, social history, gender studies, studies on household, religion, rites as well as rituals and their social context. She has published numerous monographs on these subjects, including Contestation and Compliance: Retrieving Women's Agency from Puranic Traditions (2014) and Engendering the Early Indian Household: Brahmanical Precepts in the Gṛhyasūtras (2008).
