As a principal in Denver Public Schools she developed this Truest Heart process to help children who had been bullied. She was the recipient of a Denver Teaher's Award, and was selected as an American Council of Learned Societies' Teacher Fellow to lead a team developing inclusive multicultural curriculum. She was first published by the Modern Language Association for her essay, "Advocacy in the Elementary School Classroom."
