She spent nearly a decade as a wilderness EMT, volunteer, and board member with the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team in northern New Hampshire, supporting people in crisis while deepening her own connection to the backcountry. Her hiking background includes the Appalachian Trail through Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont; all of New Hampshire's 4,000-foot peaks; and Mount Katahdin's Knife Edge. She later earned her Maine Guide Sea Kayak License and now spends many days exploring the Maine coast by paddle.Since retiring, Jenny has continued to pursue long-distance travel and outdoor expeditions, including bikepacking routes from Canada to Mexico, across British Columbia, and throughout the United States.
