Jerry NortonJerry Norton, a 91-year-old, Columbia University graduate and veteran of the Korean War spent forty years developing sophisticated airborne radar systems for the US Navy and US Air Force. He then embarked on a second 25-year career as a sports photojurnalist but still found time to create a unique, award-winning youth football program, teach wheelchair tennis to Special Olympic and handicapped athletes, serve 52 years as a youth coach, and write eight non-fiction books.He received the Ponte Vedra Rotary Club's Local Hero Award and the First Coast Cultural Center's Art of Giving Award. He was recognized by the Town of Huntington, NY and the Jacksonville, FL Junior Chamber of Commerce for Service to Youth.Several years ago, as therapy for chronic pain, he took up oil painting and, despite vision in only one eye, was able to create a gallery of more than 500 oil paintings, including 250 portraits for three books.
