Jeta AmataJeta Amata is a Nigerian filmmaker, born on August 21, 1974 in the rich oil city of Warri, Nigeria to popular Nigerian actor Zack Amata. He comes from a family of veteran filmmakers including his grandfather, Ifoghale Amata, his uncles, Ruke and Fred Aata. Growing up in the film industry, following his family's passion for film, Jeta started directing a TV Show, Teeny Boppers as a teenager, and produced and directed his first film, Glamor Boyz at the age of 21. Amata's film The Amazing Grace, which won the Best West African Film Award in the 2006 Screen Nations Awards UK, holds the honor of being the first Nigerian film that with a western release, and first on Netflix. Black November a film starring Academy Award winner Kim Basinger and Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke premiered at the United Nations during the General Assembly in 2012 and was also screened at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. where the film inspired the sponsoring of a bi-partisan resolution on the Niger Delta of Nigeria, H.CON.RES.121. Amata had screenings of his documentary Into the Delta, on the situation of the Niger Delta, shown in nine universities in the U.S. including NYU, George Washington University, UCLA and Cornell. Amata who was conferred as a Goodwill Ambassador to Haiti in 2013 by President Michel Joseph Martelly, was also a consultant to the U.S. State Department on Conflict Resolution, where he came up with a project to minimize the possibility of mass violence in the Niger Delta. His entire life's work has been dedicated towards creating contents for change. Amata grandfather, Ifoghale Amata was one of the first Africans in Hollywood, he co-wrote and starred in Africa's first feature length film in 1956 titled, Freedom. The film was made as a way of resolving political conflicts in Africa's 1950s. Twenty-two years ago, Amata started working with a group of people whose goal was the unity of Africa, and since then nothing has mattered more. While Amata came into the United States on an Einstein Visa to work in Hollywood, Amata has been working on the unity of Africa.
