Jim BayerForty years ago, for a 6th grade writing project, Jim Bayer wrote a short story about a little garbage can named "Gary." The story was read to the various elementary classes within the school. Jim received an "A" for his story. His teacher at the tim had this to say: "Outstanding - very well done. Most creative. Very fitting for our times. Jim, I am really very, very proud of you. The children really enjoyed your story and so did I." Thoughts of Gary never escaped his mind, and now after all these years, Jim has created a permanent home for Gary, Gary's best friend, Smitty the Goat, and their other unique friends in Hickory Nut Hollow. Currently, Jim resides in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, with his wife Shauna and their two wonderful children Samantha and Jake.
