Joan HillJoan Hill was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived in Victoria, B.C. for over 30 years with a 2 year hiatus in Edmonton, Alberta.She studied creative writing directed by Fred Wah, David McFadden and Colin Browne at David Thompson University Centre inNelson, B.C. with Patricia Younge, Derk Wynand and Lorna Crozier at the University of Victoria, she later graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art and Creative Writing.Joan's first book of poetry entitled "Woman In A Wedge" was published by Greensleeve Publishing in Edmonton, Alberta in 1989 under her married name, Joan Brown and she has appeared in an anthology of social and political poetry entitled "Keeper Of The Conscience, Volume 1 edited by Ronald Kurt and Mark McCawley in 1990, published by Greensleeve Publishing.
