Joana BezerraJoana Bezerra completed her PhD in Environment and Society at the State University of Campinas, Unicamp, before leaving Brazil for the Netherlands, where she took a postdoctoral position at the Terra Preta Program at Wageningen University in 2014 befre arriving at Rhodes University, South Africa, in 2015. She is currently a Lecturer and Researcher at the Rhodes University Community Engagement Division. With a background in Politics and International Relations and postgraduate studies in environmental science, Joana is interested in the political dimensions embedded in environment and development issues. She has fieldwork and research experience in Brazil, Europe and South Africa and her research areas are: people's relationship with land; environmental policies; epistemic justice and the environment; and service-learning.
