John A LeeJOHN LEE studied sociology at the University of Toronto and received an honours BA in 1956. Initially keeping his degree secret, he worked his way up through the trade union movement as a factory labourer. In 1958 he was appointed research director o the Eastern District of the International Woodworkers of America, and in 1960 became education and public relations director of Local 1000 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. He received an MA from Toronto in 1965, left union work to lecture in sociology at Trent University, and then went ot Sussex University and obtained a doctorate in sociology. Since 1969 he has been a member of the faculty of Scarborough College, University of Toronto, and at present is chairman of the Dean's Advisory Committee on Television there.
