John J HanrahanJohn J. Hanrahan grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. Better known as Jack, he received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and two master's degrees and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. His career in marketing took him to Chicago (Leo Burnett ompany), Atlanta (The Coca-Cola Company), and New York City (Hanrahan Media Services).Jack and his wife Lisa, retired to Charlottesville, Virginia where they volunteer with several community service organizations. For over a decade, Jack has volunteered at the Legal Aid Justice Center and with the Friends of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. He also serves on the board of directors of the Friends of the Library.Traveling Freedom's Road: Frederick Douglass in Maryland is his second book. The first, Traveling Freedom's Road: A Guide to Exploring Our Civil Rights History, combines sharing the history of the civil rights movement with detailed travel advice on how and where to understand that movement through travel. Traveling Freedom's Road: A Guide to Exploring Our Civil Rights History was selected as the best nonfiction travel book in the 2022 Best Indie Book Awards (BIBA) competition.
