John McHenryJohn McHenry is an attorney with an abiding interest in history. Browsing through old newspapers at the local public library, he came upon a reference to a Company H from Portsmouth, Ohio, that participated in the invasion of Puerto Rico during the 198 Spanish-American War. He knew then there was a story to tell about soldiers from Portsmouth and Scioto County generally that had been all but lost. Scioto County rallied to the call to arms and in its small way joined in the temper of the time to free oppressed Cubans from the yoke of Spanish rule. Not all returned home.
