Jonathan ChambersJonathan Chambers is a Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University, USA. He is the author of the book Messiah of the New Technique: John Howard Lawson, Communism, and American Theatre, 1923–1937 (2006) andthe introduction to Orpheus X and Other Plays by Rinde Eckert (2013). His essays have appeared in numerous journals, as well as in collected volumes of essays, including Working in the Wings: New Perspectives on Theatre History and Labor, The Politics of American Actor Training, and Theatre Historiography: Critical Interventions. He is the 2016 recipient of the Betty Jean Jones award, given annually by the American Theatre and Drama Society to honor an individual who has achieved excellence as a university teacher, scholar, and mentor in the profession.
