Joris Bas BackerJoris Bas Backer was born only a short bike ride away from the coast in the Hague and grew up in Bucharest, New York and Leiden. Until 2003, he studied fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Since then, Joris has been living in Berli working as a comic artist and illustrator. He is a co-founder of the artist collectives Palatti and Chicks on comics. In 2018, together with Nettman, he published the cartoon collection Familienjuwelen, at Jaja Publishing and a short story in the comic anthology, we're still here (Stacked Press, USA), which won the 2019 Ignatz Award in the outstanding anthology category.
