Joseph Randolph BowersDr Joseph Randolph Bowers PhD Couns, MEd Couns, GCHC, CPNLP, BA Distinction, HACA, is a Senior Counsellor Psychotherapist and Behaviour Specialist. He taught for two decades at Australian and Canadian universities in Counselling, Education, and Indignous Studies. His works are kept in special collections with the Mi'kmaq Resource Centre, Cape Breton University, and Tepi'ketuek Mi'kmaq Archives, University of Saskatchewan. Since 2007, he is an Associate Scholar with the Centre for World Indigenous Studies USA. He is an author of over two hundred publications, including books The Practice of Counselling, Sacred Teachings from the Medicine Lodge, and On the Threshold: Personal Transformation and Spiritual Awakening. Dr Bowers works in community practice with Ability Therapy Specialists Pty Ltd in the mountains of New South Wales Australia. Mi'kmaq Elder Dr Daniel N. Paul C.M., O.N.S., LLD, DLIT, is an historian and the celebrated author of We Were Not the Savages: First Nations History. His most recent book Chief Lightning Bolt is an inspired novel set in pre-contact Mi'kmaq society. Among many awards, Elder Paul received an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Université Sainte-Anne (1997), Honorary Doctor of Law from Dalhousie University (2013), Order of Canada (2005), Order of Nova Scotia (2002), and the esteemed Grand Chief Donald Marshall Memorial Elder Award (2007).
