João L. AfonsoJoão L. Afonso (M’00, SM’16) is Full Professor of the Department of Industrial Electronics, of the Engineering School, at the University of Minho, in Portugal. He is coordinator and researcher with the Group of Energy and Power Electronics (GEPE), an he is a steering committee member of the thematic line “Smart Cities and People” of the ALGORITMI research center. His research interests include Power Electronics technologies applied to Power Quality, Active Power Filters, Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicles, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage Systems, Innovative Railway Systems, Smart Grids and Smart Cities. He is co-author of 52 papers in international journals with referee, 237 papers in international conferences with referee, and 9 book chapters.
