Judith Thomson
I spent my childhood in Lincolnshire and went to Art College in Leicester before enjoying the London scene in the sixties. I found it an exciting place to be but a chance day trip to Brighton was all it took for me to know where I wanted to spend he rest of my life, and I am still in Sussex.
My love of the 17th century began around the time I moved here, and it has never left me. I started to write about it when my three children were small and I was able to spend more time at home. I have written several stories based around the period, set both in England and in France, some of which follow the same characters. I found a lot of my inspiration in my many visits to Versailles, which gave me a great deal of insight into my hero, Louis X1V, as well as a passion for gardens and gardening.
I also like to scuba dive and to paint, and I have helped on a local archaeological dig, as I am interested in every era of the past. I enjoy walking desert trails in America and ancient landscapes here in Sussex and am currently discovering the routes of Ley Lines in the area.
