K P SrivastavaDr. Krishna Prasad, an eminent Entomologist was born on April 1, 1938 at Varanasi. He started his research career at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi and continued there till his supernuation in 1998. He worked in this prestigous Institute in various capacities right from Entomologist in 1963 to Principal Scientist at the time of retirement. He worked under the PL 480 Project from 1965 to 1977 and completed his Ph.D.degree during the project period. His work on insect genetics and host plant resistance in Sorghum has been recognized globally. He upgraded his knowledge by visiting advanced laboratories in USA. Dr. Srivastava is not only an excellent researcher but also avery popular teacher. Lately in his research career, he shifted to Advanced centre for Plant Virology at IARI and did good work on virus-vector relationship. Dr. Srivastava is a Fellow of Plant Protection Association of IndiaPPAI), Entomological Society of India, Indian Phytopathological Society and Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding. He is life member of many Professional Societies and served them in various capacities. He served as Vice-President of PPAI and was in Editorial Board of several professional Journals. He published over 150 research papers, and authored two books on Plant Protection. He also published scientific dictionaries on agriculture Botany and Entomology.
