K Ryan HelmickBeing accused of a committing a crime can be someone's worst nightmare. It not only affects the accused, but it also affects their family and friends. People sometimes say, Well that would never happen to me, I'm a law-abiding citizen, We've all hear this before. Sadly, I can tell you that I have represented many law-abiding citizens, many good people that unfortunately were the subject of a bad police investigation, a faulty eyewitness, or a closed-minded prosecutor. Also, what about a close friend of theirs who gets arrested or a close family member? Then what? Where do you turn? All of the sudden they or their loved ones are sitting in a criminal defense lawyer's office, lost, and confused as to what they should do. They need answers, they need a dedicated advocate and most importantly they need peace of mind. This book seeks to act as a simple, reader friendly roadmap for a criminal case. It's meant to answer some of the most common questions of the accused and their families. Every state's laws and procedures are a bit different. As such, this book focuses only on criminal cases in the State of Nevada. I hope this book answers most of your general questions about a criminal case, but I am aware that it may not answer them all. For the left-over questions that you may have, please reach out to your criminal defense lawyer. And make sure it is a criminal defense lawyer who practices at least 75% in that field. You don't want to seek advice from the jack of all trades lawyer, who is mediocre in many things but an expert in none. Read More Read Less
