Karen HarmonAfter graduating high school in 1978, Karen Harmon went on to travel and attend college, and began a career as an aerobics instructor in the 1980s when curly perms and leg warmers were the going trends. She became involved in the disco scene and the any unsavoury characters that went with it. Karen became a single mother at the age of 32 and went back to college to obtain a degree as an Education Assistant. Karen currently works in a high school and enjoys being in a fun, busy place of learning. She is reminded daily of her own high school experiences and revels in how many social aspects have not changed, and yet how young people have evolved and grown to make for a much healthier, inclusive environment.Karen enjoys blogging about the past and has found writing to be a cathartic, life-changing and entertaining pastime. During the writing of Class of '78, all of Karen's fictitious characters developed into real people she looked forward to hanging out with every time she turned on her computer. Each personality was created from Karen's memory bank of people and experiences she encountered during the 1970s and '80s. She often stated, "Writing Class of '78 was like watching a well-loved movie or episodic series."Karen currently lives and works in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and is writing the prequel to the Class of '78. She still teaches fitness and enjoys her husband and family of three adult children. Read More Read Less
