Keller Cushing FreemanKeller Cushing Freeman received her PhD in History as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow from the University of Georgia. A native of Asheville, NC, Freeman has lived in Greenville, SC since 1964, teaching history and philosophy at Furman and Clemson Universitie, at Greenville Technical College, and in the University of South Carolina's Master of Fine Arts program at the Greenville Museum of Art. With co-author Parker Bishop Albee, Jr. she has written two books: Shadow of Suribachi and Iwo Jima Icon. Freeman and Albee served as script consultants and commentators for the A&E television documentary, "Heroes of Iwo Jima," premiering on the A&E Television Network.In retirement from her academic career, Freeman continues to write both fiction and non-fiction; to edit; and to collaborate with regional musicians as a librettist.
