Kevin Magill Kevin R. Magill is an Assistant Professorof Secondary and Social Studies Education at Baylor University. Dr. Magill receivedPh.D. in Social Studies Education from The University of Texas atAustin, and holds Masters Degrees in Education and Publi Administration fromThe University of California, Davis, and California State University,Stanislaus, respectively. He also earned a BA in Communication Studies whileattending California State University, Stanislaus. Dr. Magill's researchexplores two areas, first, how social studies teachers understand therelationship between teaching and civics and how their own ontologies and ideologiesinform their pedagogical practices. Second, he considers how and when teachershelp social studies students utilize cultural knowledge and critical inquiry todo the authentic work of civics.
