Kitty La PerriereKitty La Perriere, MS, PhD, ABPP, born in Czechoslovakia and sheltered in Switzerland during the war, came to the United States in 1950. She was educated at the Universities of Zurich, Geneva, Connecticut College, Yale University and Washington Univesity. She worked as a research associate with Dr. Jane Loevinger on test construction, with Dr. Margaret S. Mahler in early child development and joined Nathan W. Ackerman in 1963 in the recently founded Family Institute. She was influential in developing the field of family therapy and its training methods, became training director at the Ackerman Institute and later president of the American Family Therapy Academy. She received the Connecticut College Medal in 2002. She taught nationally and internationally, was on the board of numerous professional organizations and journals.
