L.J. Hunt, who lives in Chicago, has a stepgrandfather with a 1908 Brush automobile. Though the old Brush can barely get to the bottom of the driveway these days, its existence led the author all the way to the Abernathy boys, who went for a long rive in one just like it one year after the journey described in this book. But that's another adventure, perhaps for another time.
