L Muthoni WanyekiMuthoni Wanyeki is Executive Director, African Women's Development and Communications Network (FEMNET), Nairobi, Kenya. Educated at the University of New Brunswick in Canada, she subsequently worked with Inter Press Service's regional Africa office i Harare on human rights and the media. Since returning to Kenya, she has been active in a range of civil society institutions. She is a founding member of the Coalition on Violence against Women, a former Director of the Media Institute, Nairobi, and currently Vice-President for Africa on international board of the World Association of Community Broadcasters (AMARC). In addition to numerous public presentations on gender, human rights and development communications, she has edited Second Class Citizenship, a report on women's human rights in Kenya, and Up in the Air, a book on broadcasting in Eastern Africa.
