Lance McCuneRev. Lance McCune has been a minister for more than 40 years. The tragedy of 9/11 changed the course of his life forever when he saw there was little cooperation or collaboration between faith-based groups and government agencies to help people in ned. He decided to do something about it. As a pastor, for the next 10 years, he became involved with the local police department. During the thousands of hours of riding along with patrol officers, he helped develop and coordinate effective systems to assist government agencies in partnering with faith-based organizations, faith-based leaders and corporate leaders, to build strong and resilient communities. This later expanded into emergency management, training other cities and government leaders in the concept of faith-based community policing and sharing the model with local businesses and corporations to benefit their communities and ultimately, the nation. Due to his experience and expertise with these systems, Rev. McCune was named the volunteer coordinator, and then faith-based coordinator, for his city and county in the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) during emergency relief efforts for Hurricanes Katrina (category 5, August 2005), Rita (category 5, September 2005), Gustav (category 4, August 2008), and Ike (category 4, September, 2008). He was also named the faith-based coordinator for the 2011 Super Bowl, and is the founder of Uniting Clergy & Police(TM) training program. Rev. McCune has collaborated with the White House, Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. military (NORAD/NORTHCOM), and has been asked for advisement by several foreign countries. He served as an active member of Homeland Security Advisory Council, Faith-Based Committee, assisting the federal government in working together with faith-based organizations, and has worked many years with local government, faith-based organizations and corporations. Rev. McCune travels nationally, speaking, training, coaching and imparting his vision of mutual cooperation and collaboration between faith-based groups and government entities to faith-based organizations, corporations and government entities-teaching them to successfully work together to build safe, resilient communities and a strong nation.
