Latonia ArtisLatonia Artis is a native of Jacksonville Florida. She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master's degree in psychology, the University of North Florida in Jacksonville Florida with a bachelor's Degree in Sociology, minoring in Social Wefare. She holds an associate in arts degree from Florida Community College at Jacksonville. She graduated from Lee High School in 1987. While in High School she was a Pom Pom Girl in Lee High School band, she was a member of the future business leaders of America and the Secretary of the Chia Club in which promoted the importance of education and believing in "Whatever the mind can conceive it will believe" By Mr. Eve, Lee High School Counselor. Latonia has an extensive work history: Caring for her six Siblings from an incredibly early age, to serving customers at a local barbeque stand at the age of 14 years old. After high school she attempted to go into the Navy to see the world and to gain a skill but that did not work out because she failed the test by two points. She eventually found herself at a crossroads not knowing what she wanted to do and having to wait another six months to take Navy test again. She decided to attend her local junior college, FCCJ, after a failed job attempt. As the years progress, after finishing college she worked for the department of Children and Families for seven years. While working for Department of Children and families she held down a second jobs: One with Young Crisis Center as a Shift Supervisor for three years, the other as Assistant Program Coordinator at the Family Visitation center (where parents that do not have custody of their children get to visit their parents supervised by an attendant). Latonia had a lifesaving surgery and was not able to return to her second job at the Family visitation Center. Eventually she did not return to her primary job at the Department of Children and families as a Foster Care Counselor. She took time off from work to heal and regroup. Latonia went on to obtain a job at IRS and worked for ten years there; her last position with the IRS was a Collection Manager. Latonia left the IRS in pursuit of a dream she always had, to own her own business. She founded a business named Dignity Assistant Services 91. She collaborated with Disabled individuals for ten years, then attempted to switch over to primarily elderly population but COVID-19 pandemic happened. Latonia is an experienced leader, instructor, and business owner. She is grateful for the opportunity she was given by God. Read More Read Less
