Lena CottinghamLiving in Detroit, Michigan (Highland Park to Royal Oak Township), I witnessed poverty firsthand because I was a part of it. I had to grow up quickly in my elementary school years and learn survival skills. When I was sixteen I gave birth to my son, hen at nineteen married my high school sweetheart after graduation. One thing I did feel throughout my life was LOVE and comfort from my mother. I had a village of family, special shout out to my second mom Aunt Dorothy, to turn to when I was growing up, so although life may have seemed awful by the naked eye, I generally felt happy. My goal is to embrace the love and support I received in my upbringing and be a village for whomever I come in contact with throughout my life. Now, I'm divorced with three adult children and one daughter-in-law, along with two grandchildren and one on the way. I would like to give Special Thanks to my daughter Lynette as I finish this book. Her assistance with editing and rereading helped me get to the point of publishing. I can't express how I appreciate and love all my children: Bobby Jr., Jonathan and Lynette for the love and support each of them displayed as I embarked on this writing journey. Read More Read Less
