Lisa A ConwayLisa A. Conway, MSW, is a strong Christian woman who carries her faith with her everywhere she goes. Throughout her young life she found herself being drawn towards helping those in need. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Psychology and Spnish from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Once she graduated and started working in the field of social services she decided she wanted to become a Licensed Social Worker. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was awarded the Murray Fox Practicum Educator's Award to merit her excellence in being a dedicated and effective field instructor.Throughout her career she found herself working with the elderly and disabled, abused women and children, people battling addiction, the homeless, and had the privilege to work with the dying and their families at Hospice.After suffering with mental illness for years, Lisa, herself needed intervention. Her psychiatrist encouraged her to get ECT treatments. She and her family suffered for years trying to manage the depression and the cognitive effects of the ECT.Lisa and her service dog, Teddy, began running together and Lisa's depression began to lift, as well as some of the effects of the treatments. After learning the truth about the damage the treatments did to her, she realized she was never warned about the cognitive damage the treatments could cause. Lisa needed to warn people about the damage it did to her.It is Lisa's goal to offer compassion and support to those suffering from mental illness, education to their caregivers, both familial and professional and to bring the truth of the dangers of ECT to light and to advocate for all ECT survivors.
