Lt Gen Dushyant SinghHe was commissioned into the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment in December 1981. He is an alumnus of National Defence College, Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and Naval Postgraduate School, California, USA. He has attendedthe Regional Defence Counter Terrorism Programme with specialisation in Terrorist Operations and Financing in USA. He has served in varied terrains and theatres of operations, in India and in the UN as Military Observer, in addition to commanding an Infantry Battalion, Brigade, and a Division in Jammu and Kashmir. He also holds the distinction of having served twice in the elite National Security Guards, as the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) and the Inspector General (Operations). The General Officer has also held the appointment of Chief of Staff, Eastern Command. The General Officer commanded a Corps and thereafter headed the Army War College.He is currently Professor Emeritus of Defence Studies at Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat. He is also the founder member of a Lucknow Based Think Tank, 'Strive India'.For his distinguished services, the General Officer has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal as well as the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. Besides contributing regular articles to various defence journals and newspapers, he has also written chapters in three books: "Deterring Terrorism" which appeared in Understanding Suicide Terrorism, "Impact of Virtual World in Creation and Sustenance of Terrorism" which appeared in Countering Terrorism: Psychosocial Strategies, both published by Sage Publishing in 2019 and 'Maharana Pratap a Military Leader and an able King' in Life and War Strategies of Maharana Pratap.
