Lusi AustinLusi is a multi-disciplinary creative of bi-racial heritage (Fijian/Australian), passionate about authentic storytelling in its many forms. Her arts practice is rooted in engaging with people from regional communities-particularly her own-on Wiradjur Country (Cowra). She explores inter-generational and cross-cultural narratives as a way to uncover grassroots community stories, which she then returns to those communities through a layered artistic practice. Her most recent theatre work, Intertwined, exemplifies this approach.Lusi is deeply committed to capturing stories that reflect the social, cultural, environmental, and historical fabric of a town. This is achieved through sitting with locals and listening to those who are willing to share their experiences.Inspired by place and people, she uses a variety of artforms to represent and reframe these stories, offering them back to communities in new and meaningful ways. Her work spans song, poetry, spoken word theatre, visual arts, and podcast episodes to create rich, professional artistic expressions. As an artist, Lusi applies her diverse skillset to create responsive and respectful works that aim to preserve stories and legacies, while fostering lasting connections within communities.Lusi wrote, illustrated and published her children's book 'Jack's Visit to Cowra' (2021 - sold at the National Library Bookshop, Canberra) and was the recipient of the NSW Government ANZAC Community Grant to have her book printed and distributed to regional, rural and remote libraries across the state. Lusi strives to contribute artistically to a lasting legacy of peace, community and beauty in the world. She is thrilled to have had Teruko Sharif kindly translate 'Jack's Visit to Cowra' into Japanese. Read More Read Less
