Luís GomesLuís Gomes is currently an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal), and a researcher with the UNINOVA Institute (Caparica, Portugal), a not-for-profit R&D institution aimed at techology transfer. He was made a “Profesor Onorific”, at Transilvanea University of Brasov (Romania, 2007). His main scientific interests include the usage of formal methods for embedded systems co-design, such as Petri nets and other concurrency models, emphasizing reconfigurable computing platforms based implementations. He is author of more than 100 papers published in journals, books, and conference proceedings. He was co-editor of the books Hardware Design and Petri Nets (Kluwer Academic Publishers, 2000) and Advances on remote laboratories and e-learning experiences (University of Deusto, 2007). Dr. Gomes has been an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics from 2005 through 2008, and a member of the editorial board of LNCS ToPNoC - Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency since 2006.
