Margaret MeyersMargaret Meyers was born in Brussels, Belgium, and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Daughter and granddaughter of missionaries, she lived at nine different mission stations in Equateur Province and graduated from the Ubangi Academy in nortwestern Congo. She moved to the U.S. to further her education, earning a B.A. in Philosophy from Trinity College, an M.A. in Philosophy from DePaul University, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Virginia, where she was the recipient of a Henry Hoyns Grant. She has taught creative writing at the University of Virginia, St. Albans School, and the American University. Since 2000 she has taught in the Johns Hopkins M.A. in Writing Program. Her previous short story collection, Swimming in the Congo (Milkweed), was selected a book of the year by the New York Public Library. Read More Read Less
